Kodaikanal is a beautiful hill station situated at an altitude of 2133 m on the southern tip of the upper Palani hills in the Western Ghats. An ideal summer holiday locale with lofty peaks and gurgling streams Kodaikanal welcomes you with rich greenery while winding up the hill. A land of rich natural treasures, Kodaikanal preserves relics of bygone British Raj. Kodaikanal with its majestic mountain peaks spiked on the Western Ghats has a bracing climate where temperature do not vary much from summer to winter. For this romantic climate it fetched the title of being the 'Princess of Hill Stations' in the country. Fruits like plums grow abundantly on the wooded slopes apart from a wide variety of flowers, among which is the famous Kurinji flower which blooms once in twelve years.
Nestled among wooded hills is the calm and serene star shaped lake spread over an area of 24 hectares where fishing is allowed and boating facilities are available, Kodai has several ancient temples, monuments and exclusive shopping mall selling apparel, handicrafts, fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers etc. Some of the Kodai enchanting sights include one of the world's oldest Solar Observatories that was built in 1899 and the Orchyard at the Sacred Heart College where about 300 species of orchids can be seen. There are also a number of picturesque walks like Coaker's Walk and Priest's Walk. Kodai's best view points are Pillar Rocks, and Green Valley View. Bear Shola Falls, Silver Cascade, Fairy Falls and Glen Falls are popular with picnickers while the Perumal Peak is a favourite with trekkers. The Kurinji Andavar temple 3.2 kms away and is dedicated to Lord Subramanya.

The maximum temperature in Kodaikanal rarely rises above the mid twenties in summer. 'Winter' falls between November-February when the climate is pleasantly cool. Minimum temperatures in the hills may drop to 5 ÂșC or below.
